Our Grade 11 chemistry students have successfully wrapped up their stoichiometry unit. This essential unit, which focuses on the quantitative study of reactants and products in chemical reactions, has played a pivotal role in developing their critical thinking and practical lab skills. By bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and real-world applications, stoichiometry has fostered a deeper understanding of chemical reactions.

The skills acquired during this unit, including precision and accuracy, solution preparation, titration techniques, experimental design, data interpretation, and analysis, will prove invaluable as students continue their chemistry journey through the Diploma Programme (DP). These skills will be particularly crucial for their upcoming chemistry Individual Assessments (IAs) in Grade 12.

This week, students delved into experimental determination of magnesium oxide and hydrated copper (II) sulfate pentahydrate. They also successfully completed a summative task to assess their understanding of the stoichiometry concepts.
