This week, the grade 7 math students took their summative assessment, which covered criteria A and C. For criterion A, students were tasked with selecting the right mathematical approaches to tackle complex problems in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts, applying these approaches successfully, and solving problems accurately in various scenarios. Meanwhile, criterion C evaluated their ability to seamlessly transition between different mathematical representations, present clear and logical reasoning, and organize their work in a coherent and structured manner.
Leading up to this assessment, the students have been reviewing the Numbers 1 unit, with a particular focus on order of operations, including squares, cubes, and cube roots. This foundational knowledge will serve them well as they move forward into upcoming units on ratio, proportion, and percentages.
