The IB DP is renowned for its academic rigor as we all recognize. At the very foundational level, it challenges students to think critically, analyze information from multiple perspectives, and apply their knowledge to real-world situations. This very essence aligns perfectly with the core mission of Al Batinah International School.

The chemistry internal assessment (IA) is a crucial component of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP)  meant to cultivate academic rigor. Its significance lies in its ability to promote inquiry-based learning and critical thinking, which are essential skills for success in the 21st century.

The IA requires students to design and carry out an experimental investigation, analyze their findings, and communicate their results in a formal report. This process encourages students to take an active role in their learning, formulate their own research questions, and develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts and methods. By engaging in hands-on experimentation and data analysis, students cultivate critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to make informed decisions based on evidence.

Following a rigorous mock exam schedule, our Grade 11 chemistry students embarked on an introduction to the Chemistry Internal Assessment (IA). They engaged in data collection and recording, laying the groundwork for in-depth analysis and the creation of a comprehensive IA-formatted report.
