It has been a busy week in the science department this week.
Grade 7 have done work on basic SI units and conversions. Next week we will continue to build science skills with a practical activity on measuring and calculating. We will also practice reading scales.
Grade 8 have started looking at cells and structures within the cells. Next week we will look at the circulatory system.
Grade 9 have had lessons in both biology and physics. Biology has started with classification. They looked at the ways that biologists classify living things and used different types of keys identify organisms. Next week we will look at the basic building blocks of living things – cells. In physics we have started with the system of measurement and a measurement and calculation activity. Next week we will start on our first topic of light.
Grade 10 have been revising cells in biology and the particle model in thermal physics. Next week we will revise diffusion, osmosis and active transport in cells for biology. We will look at how the kinetic theory explains heating.
Grade 11 have started the year working hard and helping each other. Working together is a great strategy for learning as it really helps to build skills and knowledge. We have started on mechanics.
I am looking forward to doing some practical work with most classes over the next week.
