This week, the ABIS music rooms have been alive with rhythm, melody, and joyful sounds as students from KG1 to Grade 6 continue their musical explorations and prepare for our upcoming Winter Music Concert! 🌟
Early Years (KG1 & KG2): Feeling the Beat!
Our youngest musicians have been exploring the world of rhythm through playful movement, percussion, and song. Using shakers, drums, and tambourines, they’ve learned how steady beats make music come alive. Through clapping games and echo patterns, the children are discovering that music is all around us — in footsteps, in the rain, and in their own hearts. Their bright smiles and curious ears are lighting up every rehearsal!
Grades 1 & 2: From Patterns to Performance
Grade 1 and 2 students have been connecting rhythm to music notation, learning how to read and play simple rhythmic patterns using ta, ti-ti, and rest symbols. They’ve been working collaboratively to compose short rhythmic pieces using classroom percussion instruments, developing both teamwork and musical creativity. As they prepare for the concert, students are exploring how rhythm tells a story — and how each beat helps them perform together as one ensemble.
Grades 3 & 4: Singing, Playing, and Performing
Grades 3 and 4 have been singing with enthusiasm and exploring how melody and rhythm work hand-in-hand. Grade 3 students are learning to play the recorder, focusing on breathing, pitch control, and ensemble coordination, while Grade 4 has taken up the ukulele, strumming chords that accompany their class songs. Both groups are preparing special musical numbers for the Winter Concert, blending instrumental learning with expressive singing and storytelling.
Grades 5 & 6: Musical Variety and Performance Readiness
In the upper primary, Grades 5 and 6 are exploring a variety of instruments and performance techniques. From ensemble singing to rhythmic layering, from tuned percussion to ukulele and recorder practice, students are deepening their understanding of how music expresses identity and emotion. Rehearsals are in full swing as they prepare their concert repertoire — bringing together months of skill-building, creativity, and collaboration.
❄️ Winter Music Concert – Coming Soon!
All grades are now gearing up for the much-anticipated Winter Music Concert, where our theme of friendship, peace, and celebration through music will shine through every performance. From joyful jingles to inspiring melodies, our students are ready to share their hard work, confidence, and musical growth with the school community.
Stay tuned for more updates as our young musicians bring their winter magic to the stage!
