Weekly Music at ABIS

A look at what our students have been exploring in music!

This week in the ABIS music room, our students have been busy exploring sound, rhythm, and melody. From our youngest learners to our older students in band and choir, there has been a lot of singing, playing, and creating!

Early Years & Grade 1

Our KG1, KG2, and Grade 1 students have been exploring the fundamentals of music through singing, instruments, and experiments. They’ve been learning about duration and pitch, discovering how sound is made by experimenting with different instruments. Our young musicians have been singing a variety of new and old songs and exploring musical instruments like rhythm sticks and egg shakers. It’s been a joy to watch them discover how different instruments work and create their own sounds.

Grades 2

The Grade 2 students have been taking their musical skills to the next level. They’ve been singing a variety of songs and have also been introduced to the xylophone. They were challenged to create their own melodies using only the black keys of the piano, which helped them explore the pentatonic scale and develop their creative abilities.

Grade 3 to 6

Our older students have been deepening their understanding of music through a variety of instruments. Our Grade 3 students were excited to be introduced to the recorder, while the Grade 4 students began their journey with the ukulele. In Grades 5 and 6, our students continued to work with their instruments in wind band, choir, and guitar. They also continued to explore the keyboard and drums, learning a wide variety of songs across different styles.

It’s been an incredible week of musical exploration, and we can’t wait to see what next week brings!
