As we end the current year for English Language and Literature in Grades 8 and 9, our focus has shifted to the areas in need of development for the students to be ready for next year. Both grades, have been working on familiarising themselves with 6 critical (active) reading strategies that they apply to reading texts, fiction and non-fiction. These strategies can be applied to any text from any discipline. The students then reviewed analytical learning outcomes and worked on answering comprehension questions to achieve 4 learning outcomes.
With this practice, their critical reading foundation is strengthened and developed.
