This Week in Our Classrooms:

Grade 8 students are making great strides in their understanding of linear equations, learning to write equations of lines and apply them to real-world contexts such as calculating costs or predicting trends. Through hands-on activities and collaborative problem-solving, they are developing a solid foundation in linear algebra. Grade 9 students are delving deeper into trigonometry, focusing on finding missing sides and angles in right-angled triangles using trigonometric ratios. Practical problems involving real-life applications, such as building design and navigation, are enhancing their understanding. Grade 10 has embarked on an exploration of the surface area and volume of 3D objects, using formulas to solve problems related to spheres, cylinders, and cones. This week’s lessons encouraged students to connect geometry to practical tasks like packaging design and construction.

Looking Ahead:

Next week, Grade 8 will explore systems of linear equations and their applications in solving real-life problems. Grade 9 will advance to multi-step trigonometric problems, including those involving angles of elevation and depression. Grade 10 will continue their exploration of 3D geometry, focusing on composite shapes and problem-solving in real-life contexts. Finally, we extend our best wishes to Grade 12 students as they prepare for their IB Mathematics: Applications and Interpretations mock exams. Your dedication and hard work will undoubtedly shine through!
