Making a fantastic start to 2025, the Grade 11 DP Chemistry students have moved on to Organic Chemistry! They have been studying the basics of organic nomenclature and building 3D molecular models using the MolyMod kits. Such hands-on activities have allowed them to visualize the structure of organic compounds such alkanes, alkenes, and functional groups. They have learned the basics of Nomenclature and used the construction of 3D models to learn about molecular geometry and bonding. This provides a solid foundation for more advanced materials that will be taught in the same organic chemistry course, like reaction mechanisms and synthesis later in the semester.
