Practical work is an important component of IB Chemistry. Approximately 25% of our teaching time is devoted to the practical scheme of work. This is an equivalent of 40 hours including 10 hours devoted to the Individual scientific investigation which makes up 20% of the final assessment mark. Our current unit in grade 12 is Topic 8- Acids and Bases. In this week’s lab investigation Francisco is trying to find the number of moles of water of crystallization by titrating ethane-1,2-dioc acid with Sodium hydroxide. Using a magnet stirrer in the experiment improved our reaction time.
