In Grade 8, the students are looking at the forms of different song structures in modern Music. While many songs are still original compositions, the rise of remixes, covers, or songs containing samples of other pieces are now ubiquitous. But have you stopped to consider which of your favorite pieces are original compositions or just re-workings of a classic, or remixing of a popular song, or that epic baseline is actually from another piece from 30 years ago? Can you count your work as artistic if you didn’t make all of it yourself? Or is the creative intention enough to maintain artistic integrity?
