This week Ms Buthaina and Ms Kamla have been extending the K1’s knowledge of Oman. Ms Kamla read them a wonderful story in Arabic and taught them a short song. Ms Buthaina took the children for a guided tour of the ABIS museum informing the children of the Omani history and culture. for Mother’s Day the ladies organized the children to make and decorate hearts as gifts and for our UOI the students watched an Arabic short video with a song about planting seeds. They then participated in an activity organized by Ms Kamla and supported by Ms Buthaina and myself using cup cakes, biscuit crumbs, cream and a mint stalk. They were able to build up the cream and cake and cover with cookie crumbs to represent the soil. They then sowed a small round chocolate to represent the seed and then they stuck the mint in the top to represent the plant. It was a very tasty way to learn about how plants grow.
