Motion Studies

Grade 7 have been working on this unit for a few weeks now. They were challenged to design a safety limit (to prevent crashing into walls or barriers while playing sports indoors. Using their knowledge of motion, they designed experiments to study reaction times of people and make recommendations for safety design. This work has led them to inquire how science is applied to real life, and to communicate this information to different audiences.

Grade 8s also worked on practical inquiry on the physical properties of matter. Using measuring instruments meaningfully allowed them to question and understand  accuracy, estimation and precision. Measurements are present all around us; every building, furniture, roads, cars, etc., have been designed r according to some measurement being made. Using measurements, they then extended their study to the study of physical properties of chemicals. Knowing and understanding chemicals helps us to identify and use them effectively.
