This week during ABIS library classes, grades 3-6 reflected on their own reading habits and how they can become better readers. Students then chose one library reading goal to work on in January.
Grade 2 students also talked about goal setting and how to choose “just right” books using the 5 finger rule. Students explained the 5 finger rule and talked about their books to Ms. Maeve when she popped in for a visit!
ECC students enjoyed talking about what good readers do, and practiced asking questions, making predictions and looking for clues in the illustrations. We really had a lot of fun reading “Caps For Sale” and figuring out what all the “monkey business” was about, as well as waiting to see if baby bird would find his own mother in “Are You My Mother?”
Students all were able to choose library books to read over the break. Please remind your child to take care of their library books during vacation and be ready to bring them back in January! Happy Vacation Reading, see you in the new year!
