In English we have reading ‘ The Outsiders’ by S.E. Hinton. Students have completed analyses of the major characters in the novel in order to complete the first summative assessment. They have also inquired into literary devices, particularly the way in which the author uses flashback and foreshadowing in the book. We will go on to look at how she develops characters and how relationships between characters change.
In Individuals and Societies we have investigated different explores from different eras and students wrote potted biographies on one explorer. We have looked at the causes and consequences of the age of exploration and the Spanish conquest of the Inca and Aztec empires. At present we are evaluating sources of evidence in terms of value, limitations, origin and purpose, and will be completing a summative assessment soon.
