Grade 9 I&S students have been focused on the thinking skills of analysis and comparison as we wrap up our unit on the Interwar Years.  We have examined important historical events such as the impact of the Treaty of Versailles on Germany, the reasons for the weaknesses and failures of the League of Nations, and the rise of fascist dictatorships across Europe prior to World War II.  Grade 9 students have been working collaboratively on a particular case study in European dictatorships (Mussolini in Italy, Hitler in Germany, Franco in Spain, and Salazar in Portugal) and have just completed a formative task involving a comparison and contrast of two case studies.  Conceptually, we have inquired into the link between the effectiveness of national governments and global institutions during the 1920s and the rise of authoritarian regimes.  On Thursday, November 11th, students will sit for a summative exam.  A detailed study guide has been provided on Google Classroom.
