This week grade 10 students looked at how war led to advancements in medicine. Our primary focus was the First World War which was fought on an industrial scale. Below is some of our work where we used categories to discover new injuries and diseases arising from the conflict, new medicines and technology that were developed and used, and what practices arose from doctors and nurses working feverishly on the front lines. With the help of a video from NATO, we started exploring the question: was the First World War good for medicine?
