Oman Week was a huge success. Many activities planned involved elements of Math, science and design. A treasure hunt was a fun first activity that incorporated elements of direction (using a compass) , distance and cryptic clues. The children then designed their own hunts which were exchanged with other teams. It was so much fun, that the activities were shared with other grades! Definitely a feather in the grades 7 caps. In between various physical fun activities, we incorporated learning science and design in boat building. Students worked with different propulsion models and designed a little steam-boiler. Design elements of material resource planning and prototyping were considered before the final models were made. In between all this, students learned the traditional art of Omani weaving. Testing the boats in the pool provided the final test of success. We rounded the week off with a movie, popcorn and “capture the flag” It was an exhausting fun-filled week. See you next week
