In grade 9 science, we have just finished our quarter 1 unit. Our focus has been on the consequences of our changing environment. We learned about the facts of invasive species and global warming on the natural environment and on human populations. In particular, students were asked to consider how theses changes affect their own personal acts of expression.

The changes being undertaken to Earth’s ecosystems have effects not only on biology and ecology but also on human culture and societies. Our personal responses to these changes will be relevant to the way we deal with and incorporate these changes into our lives and communities and can motivate us as individuals and as groups to make our own changes to mitigate or adapt to changing conditions.

I enjoyed seeing the work students completed (a quick collage of it is displayed here) and look forward to sharing it with everyone in the coming week. For now we are moving on to the next unit.
