In 4th and 5th grade this week we read “Planting Stories: The Life of Librarian and Storyteller, Pura Belpré” by Anika Aldamuy Denise, a book about one of my heros. Students thought about and shared what traits they thought that heros had, and a bit about their own heros. They also shared why they thought Pura was a hero.
In 2nd to 6th we identified traits of characters in books, thought about favorite places to read, what things help us to read, identified which genres we prefer and learned how to read a story, all which made this week fun and interesting. We did our own “planting stories” and I look forward to planting many more!
