I have been having so much fun getting to know the primary students better this week. We have had lots of conversations around books and reading. Some of the things we have done:
We have talked about our favorite books in grades 2-6. We have talked about genre in grade 5 and our personal preferences. We talked about what stories are and where they come from in grade 3 after reading ” I am a Story” by Dan Yaccarino. We talked about how books can leave you wondering about the ending after reading “The Garden of Abdul Gasazi” by Chris Van Allsburg in grade 4. Grade 2 made videos to share the books they love with me as well.
During all these conversations we are also getting to know each other and build relationships and building a community of readers. Thank you for sharing your children with me!
