We have incorporated Language, Maths, Arts, Drama and Music while reading the big book about Five Little Ducks. We read the book, discussed the pictures, went to the farm to take a look at a real pond and compare it to that in the book. Then we set up a pond in a classroom using some blue paper and natural objects. The students colored in their duck puppets, painted a pond in Arts and acted out the story while rereading the book and listening to the song! Lots of counting were involved to make sure the right number of ducklings “went out one day, over the hills and far away”!
