Busy week after spending one week in the mountains with grade 9s and having to mark all the MOCK exams and comment on them.
Grade 11 and 12 students were busy on Sunday with the group 4 project, a mandatory assessment for the whole group 4 subjects (Sciences). The topic chosen this year was “Science of the farm and the school playground facilities”. We had some groups doing projects about friction in slides, biodiversity in the pond, rates of evaporation in shaded and sunny areas, energy and windmills, purity of the water, etc.
The rest of the week grade 12 Chemistry and Biology students were basically finishing the MOCK paper 3 and getting some feedback from their performances.
Grade 11 Chemistry and Biology students spent the rest of the week talking about internal assessment and statistical analysis of the data and grade 7 students covered selective breeding and tried to perform a DNA extraction that will be resumed on arrival after the February break.
It has been a very busy week but we are all making excellent progress with the courses.
