Thank you for supporting the 5th annual ABIS beach clean-up held at Sanqar Beach here in Sohar last Friday, Jan. 12th. Over 70 caring students, parents and teachers attended ready and willing to comb the beach, for plastic, glass, styrofoam, buried fishing nets, bottle caps and more. These items are harmful to birds, marine life and ultimately us humans, so it was great to know that our efforts were truly making a difference!

One exciting thing that happened is we worked with the municipality to clear up a heap of garbage that was just sitting on the beach waiting to be washed into the sea. It was great to see the before and after results of the work we did on that garbage heap (see photos below).

Near the end of the beach clean-up several beach cleaners really dug in and got involved in a “tug-of-war” with some buried ropes and fishing nets. After some serious digging and tugging, they were able to recover these materials and dispose of them properly where they belong.

Thank you gain to everyone who participated and hope to see you at our next beach clean-up!!
