Last week, during the grade 8 and 9 examinations, the students in grades 6 and 7 were set a project to complete that would incorporate elements of English, History, Mathematics and Science. Students had to imagine that they were travelers in time and visit a period of history. They had to write a script detailing their adventures and had to use an element of science or mathematics in resolving a problem in that time period.
Student engagement in the activity was incredibly high and the quality of the submitted, finished scripts has been amazing! Historical periods covered included ancient Egypt and the Library of Alexandria, Tudor England, Washington DC during the Martin Luther King ‘I have a dream’ speech and medieval Europe during the Black Death pandemic.
Secondary staff are currently reading and assessing the student projects and they wil be returned to students, and parents, next week!
