This week we did a science experiment to see how sedimentary rocks are formed. First we collected together the resources we needed. Gravel, sand, chalk, water, buckets, sieves and scoops.

Today students in Grades 1, 6 and 11 received a tetanus and polio booster shot. Although some students seemed anxious there were many smiles of relief when they realized that it was not as painful as they thought it would be.

This week we started our Unit of Inquiry on How the World Works. We talked about the things the children already knew about rocks then they decided what they wanted to find out about rocks. The children had great fun collecting different coloured rocks.

It was a very quiet week in Grade 1 this week, at least on Ms Marie’s part. They continued looking at ‘ea’ sounds and further investigated measurement.

This week we have been looking at measurement. We looked at taller and shorter, longer and shorter, wide and narrow. We also used some non standard units to measure body parts.
