Bringing the World into Our Music Room!

This week at Al Batinah International School, the music rooms were alive with rhythm, movement, and melodies from around the globe. Across all grade levels, students journeyed through culture, story, and sound — making connections between music, emotion, and identity.

🌈 KG1 – Emotions, Colours, and Culture

Our youngest musicians continued their delightful journey through Mixed by Arree Chung, exploring how colors connect to emotions. Through playful songs, expressive movement, and storytelling, they discovered how to use their bodies, faces, and voices to show feelings like happy, sad, excited, and calm.

But the exploration didn’t stop there! KG1 also dipped their toes into children’s music from around the world — clapping, stomping, spinning, and dancing to joyful tunes and playful games from many cultures. The room was filled with laughter, movement, and discovery.

🌍 Grade 1 & 2 – Singing the World’s Stories

Grade 1 and 2 students sang their way across continents this week! From folk songs to childhood favorites, they explored the melodic traditions of different countries. Whether through call-and-response songs from Africa, lullabies from Asia, or circle games from Europe, students experienced the universal language of music in action.

They also sharpened their skills in movement to music — marching, floating, stomping, and dancing — all while building coordination and a sense of beat. Storytelling tied it all together, allowing them to imagine, act, and sing as characters in the world of song.

🎭 Grades 3–6 – Taking the Stage!

It’s showtime for our upper primary performers! This week, Grades 3 to 6 tackled new repertoire with confidence and creativity. From solo performances to ensemble rehearsals, students honed their musical expression, experimented with vocal tone, and embraced choreography and movement as part of their performances.

Some students even tried their hand at leading warm-ups and offering peer feedback — showing that music is not just about performance but also collaboration, leadership, and growth.

🌟 What’s Next?

With our end-of-term events approaching, each grade is working on something special. We’re building musical confidence, cultural curiosity, and a shared love of expression — one note at a time.

Stay tuned, and keep singing at home!
