In our unit of inquiry “How We Organize Ourselves,” students explored the intricacies of community building and organization through a hands-on project where they collaboratively created a town. After completing their models, students presented their towns to their peers, an exercise that honed their presentation skills and fostered reflective learning. As presenters, they articulated the choices behind their towns, while also evaluating what aspects succeeded and what could be enhanced. This reflection was mirrored in their roles as audience members, where they practiced giving constructive feedback and gaining insights from the work of others. Through this dual role, students not only deepened their grasp of how communities are organized but also developed critical thinking and self-assessment skills, crucial for lifelong learning.
