Through our unit of inquiry ‘Who we are’ the children have deepened their understanding that even though we are all unique, we all have different roles and responsibilities that help us to work cohesively together. This week they have been utilizing both their social skills and self-management skills by working as duty supervisors in the ECC playground. Acting as positive role models Grade 1 wore the high visibility vests and their sun hats to ensure everyone recognised they were on duty. This provided the children with an authentic learning experience to support other young learners in our school community during challenging moments. The children were able to encourage others to make principled choices in terms of how they played with others and with the materials in the playground. The children received many comments of appreciation from teachers for the additional support they provided during outdoor duty.
