In Gaming Music, adaptive soundtracks employ heavy amounts of repetition. Ostinatos are musical patterns that repeat A LOT, while repeated melodic devices are called Riffs. When you layer these ideas together you can create familiar patterns and themes that help move the action in the game forward. In Grade 7, the students will be composing their own ostinato/riff that could be used in an adaptive soundtrack. The students will be using the game Incredibox to help craft their first themes. In two weeks, they will share their creations with the student body at break. Let’s see what they can create!
