In both subjects we have just completed the final summative task. In English students wrote their own myths in were expected to use 5 conventions. In Individuals and Societies, students created their own maps, making sure that they included scale, direction, symbols and a grid. They then wrote directions, using geographical terminology, for other students to find a treasure.
The second unit in English is: ‘Who will fight for what is right?’ At the moment we are investigating different problems facing the world today. We will then research about activists in each of these areas and eventually students will be worsting a speech for one of those activists.
The second Individuals and Societies unit is ‘Ancient Civilizations.’ We will be investigating civilizations from across the world and using historical skills. At present we are looking at what ruins can tell us about a. civilization.
