In Grade 10 Music, we have been breaking down what makes movie music different from regular music. What are its unique functions, how does it interplay with the acting on screen, and what makes good film music anyway? To explore these ideas, the students have been picking apart a scene from a movie of their choice and rewriting the music for it. Currently, the students have been hard at work composing a theme for their scene, employing technology and their understanding of Music Theory to create original compositions. Perhaps the next John Williams is in the classroom right now…
