As you know, a main focus of the IB is to encourage students to become internationally-minded through their learning. This is described as an openness to the world and a recognition of our deep interconnectedness to others.
Grade 7 musicians have been open to the world around them by inquiring into the culture and music of Indonesia, and Bali in particular. They are discovering musical concepts and their Indonesian names, and learning how the music forms part of Indonesian culture. They are even learning how to play with proper technique for this music!
This music, known as Gamelan, is providing an excellent vehicle for international-mindedness!
