This week culminated in an assessment covering concepts from Structure 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3, giving our Grade 11 students an opportunity to apply their understanding of the particulate nature of matter, atomic structure and related concepts. Although this assessment will not be formally reported as a summative grade, as we are yet to complete the full Structure 1 unit, including sections 1.4 and 1.5, it provides a valuable indication of each student’s current understanding. The results will help us identify areas of strength, address misconceptions and plan the next steps in our learning journey.

After a well-deserved break, we look forward to getting straight back into the action with Stoichiometry, exploring both qualitative and quantitative analysis, alongside Structure 2: Bonding and Structure. These topics will keep us busy as we continue building the knowledge and problem-solving skills needed for success in DP Chemistry. Our target is to complete this phase of learning in time for a comprehensive assessment in the first week of December, featuring Paper 1A, Paper 1B and Paper 2. The focus will be on consolidating understanding, developing exam technique and preparing students to approach these assessments with confidence.
