Building Connections & Exploring Data in KG1
In KG1, building new friendships begins with playful conversation! As part of our unit on learning about ourselves and others, our learners are using their Communication and Thinking Skills to make meaningful peer connections.
Key Highlights from Our Inquiry:
-
Photo-on-a-Stick Roleplay: Working in pairs, students used photo props to practice asking and answering, “What’s your name?” Swapping sticks to answer with a friend’s name brought plenty of giggles while building peer recognition and turn-taking skills!
-
Favorite Colors Tally: Put question #4 to the test by collecting data on our favourite colours. Pink and Blue were the top contenders, with Blue taking the win after we counted up our tally marks together!
-
Our Friendships Chart: Co-created a classroom anchor chart (“Hello!”, “What’s your name?”, “How are you?”, “What’s your favorite food/colour?”) to guide our daily conversations.
We look forward to adding new questions as our class community continues to grow closer every day!
