On Wednesday, our Grade 9 students officially embarked on their IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) Personal Project journey. To anchor this milestone in true creativity, we ditched all digital devices for the session, focusing entirely on hands-on collaboration, critical thinking, and personal passion.
Students kicked off the session with “Artifact Speed Dating,” analyzing physical objects — ranging from a cat toy to a seasonal cookbook—to discover how a personal interest transforms into a rigorous learning goal. As their exit ticket, they mapped out their own “Passion Maps,” intersecting their personal obsessions and frustrations, skills they want to learn, and global issues they care about.
The MYP Personal Project is a capstone experience that extends over the next year. It challenges students to practice independence, time management, and resilience—skills essential for the Diploma Programme and beyond.
We encourage you to talk with your child: What are they excited to learn in order to create?
Thank you for supporting them as they step into the driver’s seat of their own learning!
