Dear Parents,
One last exam tomorrow for our Grade 10s… the grand finale: the IDU eAssessment, bringing together both Sciences and Humanities in one interdisciplinary task. A fitting final challenge for students who have worked incredibly hard over the past few weeks.
After that, students will move into their introductory DP course, a chance to begin discovering the expectations, pace, and style of the Diploma Programme before officially stepping into Grade 11.
Talking about IDUs… what exactly are they?
An Interdisciplinary Unit is one of the most “IB” things you can imagine. Instead of keeping subjects in separate boxes, students combine knowledge, concepts, and skills from different disciplines to tackle real-world ideas and problems. It is where learning becomes connected, creative, and genuinely meaningful.
And speaking of meaningful… we are currently planning a whole-school IDU experience for the final four days of the school year. Students across year groups will collaborate, create, problem-solve, and present their ideas in ways that truly showcase everything they have developed this year.
This kind of project represents the IB at its best: communication, creativity, collaboration, critical thinking, and real-world learning all coming together.
On the last day, we would love for parents to attend, even participate! cheer students on, and experience what they have created. It promises to be a wonderful way to end the school year together, celebrating not just grades, but also growth, resilience, teamwork, and imagination.
One final push for our Grade 10s tomorrow… and then, a very well-deserved breath out.
We’ll tell you more about our IDU surprise next week, stay tuned…
Warm wishes,
Miss J
