Grade 10 students recently concluded their biology unit in MYP Integrated Science by investigating the intricate pathways of biogeochemical cycles, with a dedicated focus on the carbon and nitrogen cycles. It was truly inspiring to witness their enthusiasm as they connected these global processes to their own daily lives and the broader environment. By analyzing how human intervention can disrupt these natural balances, students gained a critical perspective on the resulting impacts on various living systems and the planet’s stability. This deep dive has provided our learners with a robust conceptual foundation, perfectly positioning them for the rigors of Biology and Environmental Systems and Societies (ESS) at the IB Diploma level. We look forward to seeing them apply this environmental stewardship in their future scientific endeavors.
