Our Grade 10 IBMYP scientists have been diving deep into the interconnectedness of global systems. Through the lens of Criterion D: Reflecting on the Impacts of Science, students have transitioned from theory to real-world application, investigating how scientific developments shape our lives and the environment. The classroom has become a hub for critical inquiry as students tackle complex health and social issues. From analyzing the diabetes epidemic and the energy crisis to evaluating the neurotoxic effects of pesticides, they are uncovering the hidden links within biological and industrial systems. Their investigation into deforestation further highlights the delicate balance between human progress and environmental preservation. By honing their research skills and conceptual understanding, these students are preparing to be informed global citizens. As we move into ecological concepts next week, they will continue to apply this systemic thinking to the natural world.
