This week the Grade 8 students practiced their social skills of collaboration. They specifically focused on 3 strands of collaboration:
- Help others to succeed
- Encourage others to contribute
- Delegate and share responsibility
In English, they worked as a team to analyse a global issue cartoon for its impact based on the conventions of a cartoon. Afterwards, students reflected on the extent to which they were successful in helping others and encouraging others in their team, as well as did anyone take a leadership role in delegating parts of the task or whether they worked cohesively as a team to share responsibility for all parts. Then later in the week, they practised the skill again through a sorting activity to review the features of a documentary. By practising these skills, the students will gain a better understanding of how to apply the skills across subjects and in life outside of school.
