This week, our Grade 10 MYP Science class took a deep dive into the fascinating world of bioenergetics, focusing on the essential relationship between photosynthesis and cellular respiration. Through interactive simulations and hands-on activities, students investigated how variables like light intensity and nutrient availability dictate the pace of energy production in living organisms. Beyond just learning the individual processes, the class uncovered the elegant, reciprocal nature of these systems essentially, how the “waste” of one becomes the “fuel” for the other. By mastering these intricate chemical pathways now, our students are building a sophisticated scientific foundation that will serve them exceptionally well as they prepare for the rigors of the IB Diploma Programme (DP) Biology curriculum.
