Grade 11 have been exploring biological molecules further with discussions on carbohydrates and lipids. Experientially, this seems to be the most challenging for most DP biology students and it is not different from what we have experienced so far. This is because the topic involves many new concepts that students have to learn and also partly due to the chemical structures of these substances that need to be studied. Our DP students have however been working hard and taking advantage of the school’s after-school subject support to gain a better understanding of the unit. The results of the weekly quizzes show students who are willing to take on challenges in their academics and when inspired can perform beyond expectation. It is expected that they keep pushing themselves to the limit in the program and set higher standards for themselves in the coming weeks.
