Where an organism lives plays a vital role in the survivability of that organism. The conditions in that place could either enhance the life of the inhabitants or be detrimental to their survival. The grade 7 classes have been exploring ecosystems from the latter part of the last term and they continue to dig even deeper into this unit this term. The purpose of this unit is to foster an understanding of the various interactions in the world and appreciate our place in this complex system. It will enhance the research skills of the students through individualized research into different habitats. The findings of the students will be presented to classmates and this is aimed at enhancing their communication skills. The entire unit and its activities will ensure that a solid foundation is laid in this unit to help students understand even more complex interactions in the natural environment. We look forward to more interesting activities and presentations in the coming weeks as students explore additional ecosystems.
