This week was definitely shorter; however, we still managed many photos: G6 W22 in Pictures. God willing and hopefully the creek didn’t rise too high where you live. Your child(ren) will make you proud for the Exhibition presentations! We look forward to hosting parents and families on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 6:30 PM in Mazoon. We warmly invite you to attend a performance, an opening ceremony, a gallery walk of presentations, and some light refreshments.

Exhibition (or Literacy + UoI) Summary

This week, students completed their inquiry into their topics for Exhibition projects. This included working to complete all of their research, collecting evidence of their learning, completing their essays, organizing their journals, creating TED Talks, finalizing plans for a visual presentation, etc. As part of our direct instruction, teachers guided students to develop self-management skills by creating or adapting a calendar: PYPX Calendar.

Numeracy Summary

This week, students took an open-book assessment to complete their learning for the second mathematics module. This work has included solving word problems using strategies: long division up to four digit numbers, place value to the hundredths place, perimeter of a regular polygon, LCMs, GCFs, and Euclid’s Algorithm. of different number sets. Please see the latest SeeSaw post for details.

Home Learning – aka Homework

This week, students (and their parents) could access Agency Centers in order to provide a chance for students to exercise their agency and to ensure that all students would not miss out on any learning due to a meeting with a mentor or anything else. As one important way to better connect school with home, please talk with your child(ren) about their project, their meeting with a mentor, the inquiry process and so on.
