It’s the final countdown to ABIS’ PYP Exhibition in approximately 4 weeks! Additionally, it’s hard to believe that we are nearing the end of the second term and that your child(ren) is/are closer to being a secondary student rather than a primary student. Please note that first term reports will be made available electronically on February 1, 2024 in the afternoon with a message from our student management system (Managebac). Lastly, please find a few more photographs for this week’s class photographer extraordinaire and birthday girl through the following link:  G6 W19 in Pictures

Exhibition (or Literacy + UoI) Summary

This week, students continued to work on their Exhibition projects using all of their AtLs or approaches to learning: communication, research, self-management, social, and thinking skills. Specifically, students have also been learning about how to analyze and think critically about claims in texts that they are using for their research by verifying their sources and they transferred what they’ve learnt from their notes and their group mate’s notes to their writing. Lastly, students completed a kite diagram in relation to compass points or an awareness of personal operational biases.

Numeracy Summary

This week, students reviewed and reflected upon their math mid-module assessment before posting this on SeeSaw. Students also continued to complete their stand alone math learning about division using fractions and decimals.

Anything Else

This week, students (and their parents) could access Agency Centers in order to provide a chance for students to exercise their agency and to ensure that all students would not miss out on any learning due to a meeting with a mentor. As one important way to better connect school with home, please talk with your child(ren) about their project, their meeting with a mentor, the inquiry process, etc. Home learning suggestions are included within the document.
