Students have started to study the new unit of inquiry – ‘Principles and Hysteria.’  In this we are studying ‘The Crucible,’ by Arthur Miller and considering how principles may mix with hysteria to create  terrible consequences.   Students have worked in groups to understand the context of the play by investigating Puritanism, witchcraft, the McCarthy witch hunts and the Salem witch trials.  During the unit we will be trying to find out why people acted as they did.  We also looked at the structure and conventions of drama, and will be applying these to the work that Miller created.
