Welcome back!

I hope you all had a wonderful and restful Spring break. With the new term starting, we are also starting a new unit in English. We have begun our study of the dramatic text Hedda Gabler by Henrik Ibsen.

We spent the start of this week researching into the time. Georg and Francisco dug into the values and beliefs that permeated Victorian societies, while Emma, Maria, and J.G. looked at the expectations that were placed on women at this time.  Their presentations demonstrated foundational knowledge to help them understand the ideas and themes conveyed in the text.

In the coming weeks, we will be reading (or, if I can persuade them, performing) the text together. Analyzing and examining the way that character has been established and setting performs a pivotal role in the play.
