In English students finished their poetry anthologies.  They made sure that they had written a different types of poems, such as haikus, acrostics and those with an AA BB rhyming scheme.  In addition they used different poetic devices such as personification, simile and metaphor.  Students then chose one poem which they analyzed and presented to the remainder of the class.  We have just started our new unit entitled ‘Is Life Fair?’ In this unit we will read the novel ‘Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence’ fence and investigate how the Aboriginals of Australia have been treated by the British settlers.

In Individuals and Societies we have continued with our environments unit.  We have investigated the effects that humans have had in different environments, looking at climate change and sustainability.  Students have just started their final summative assessment which is to investigate a specific biome area and create a brochure.  This will include location, climate, flora, fauna, food webs, the effects of human activities on the area and possible solutions.
