In English class Grade 8 have been investigating about newspapers. They have looked at the history of newspapers and whether there is a future for them in a digital age. They have analyzed the difference between a news report and feature report. Recently students wrote their own headlines and first paragraph of a report using journalistic conventions. We will be going on to inquire about fake news and the issues of subjectivity – is it true that you are what you read?
In Individuals and Societies, we have been investigating population growth, considering why it happens and it’s implications. Students have studied about attempts to control population growth and the ethical questions surrounding this. We are building up to a summative task that is the creation of a population infographic, using the appropriate techniques.
