For my final Broadcaster post, I wanted to highlight some of the great learning that has been taking place in Grade 7 with one-point perspective. After examining Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles, students practiced using a horizon line and vanishing point to create their own interior spaces with doors, windows, and furnishings. They have begun to make their own artist’s bedrooms using color families and personal objects that will communicate something to the viewer about where and when they have lived, and who they are as people. Our unit statement of inquiry (SOI) states that “human dwellings express the identities and contemporary lives of the people who live there.”
